I surfed there while wondering whether something existed -- a freeze sensor for pipes. Turns out they do. Automatic water-pipe cut-off devices. Sweeet. Now you can protect your outside water lines too :)


Voice recognition as an interface to a home automation central control system...a touchscreen on the fridge that brings online recipe databases into the kitchen...remote controls that replace switches/curtains'/blinds' controls...fingerprint scanners that unlock deadbolts...sensors and servos and dimmers and... well, you get the picture.
